The Chadwick Room Main Floor

The Chadwick Room - Sleeps 2-3

It Overlooks the garden and is a tribute to the memory of Florence Chadwick. When David owned an antique shop in Toronto in the 60s, he acquired a steamer trunk full of her possessions, including her passport and other personal memorabilia. This room has been decorated with her adventuresome spirit in mind.

The room has a queen-sized bed, and a private bathroom down a small flight of stairs.

No words can describe my experience at this extraordinarily unique place on a uniquely extraordinary Island. When I returned home, after a mere 4 days, a co-worker saw me and said, “what have done? You look absolutely wonderful, glowing.” I told her, that what I did, was go to Haida Gwaii and Copper Beech House.

I was on a business trip, but it felt like a vacation.

Julia, a lovely generous spirit who manages the CBH met us at the airport in Masset and guided us with ease and grace throughout the 4 days we stayed. She went above and beyond, always with a smile, making delish breakfasts (granola, cereal, home made apple rhubarb cobbler, yogurt, tea, coffee, juice, stewed apricots) and ensuring that in such a short time, we imbibed the quintessential Haida Gwaii experience.
Each room is unique. I stayed in the Chadwick Room, on the main floor next to the kitchen and living room. Wonderful luxurious bedding, towels. The bathroom was downstairs, just for me, but I didn’t mind that it wasn’t ensuite it was cool to make my way down the quirky stairs, again decorated with unique pieces, ie an antique sewing box of thimbles, spools and threads. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t an old lady victorian ‘precious’ place. It is funky cool.
Copper Beech House is truly the place to be.
